OCULARIS
Award
winning film series
Directart Productions Ltd. Presents
Two Decades of Failure
Films by Fabio Roberti, Michael Wolfe, Jim Sharpe
and Lary 7. Plus special bonus selection: Oscar
de la Renta!
Directart
Productions Ltd. began in the dark, desperate years
of the early-1980s as a vehicle for its principals
to create films, videos, recordings, live performances
and sound installations. It Failed. It tried to
examine the stupidity of mindless celebrity worship.
It Failed. It tried to expose the idiocy of commercial
propaganda (rock videos, commercials, advertising-wear).
It Failed. Its attempts at disemboweling "popular
culture" of its utter banality have all totally
failed.
However,
you will see how much fun we've had trying. We hope
you will enjoy our failures as much as we do. The
experiment in failure continues. . . .

SPINSTER
Jen
Sincero and Cecil Castellucci star in a two-spinster
show about the realities of being a single lady in
the modern world. Learn from them, laugh with them,
look at pictures of their cats. Join them as they
reclaim the word "spinster" - it's kind
of like taking back the night. Only not.
Jen Sincero is a musician, radio show host,
sex expert, and the bestselling author of "The
Straight Girl's Guide To Sleeping With Chicks"
and "Don't Sleep With Your Drummer." Her
sex and relationship advice column, Living In Sin,
can be found on LAist.com, her sex talk radio show,
Dr. Happypants, is on killradio.org, and everything
else is on her website www.jensincero.com.
Cecil Castellucci is an author, filmmaker and
erstwhile musician. Boy Proof (Candlewick Press),
her first novel for Young Adults, is not a reflection
of her spinster status. Her second novel, The Queen
of Cool (total refection of her complete sass), is
out in Spring 2006. She just finished her first feature
film, Happy Is Not Hard to Be. She likes long hot
baths, chamomile tea and lavender. More info at www.misscecil.com.

BOSS TWEED +
THE DANSETTES
The
Dansettes
- this is the sound of young America: three young
women who, with close harmony, and a four-piece
Hammond organ and Wurlitzer-electric-piano-driven
backing combo are pushing a set of new songs in
an evergreen blend; Stax/Atlantic/Tamla Soul, a
touch of Brill Building Pop, and sweetly syncopated
New Orleans rhythm & blues come together to
make a kind of "mod" Americana.
Boss Tweed (pictured) - "This
Brooklyn based trio plays '50's throwbacks, crossing
fast rockabilly with a laid-back beatnik influence."
(Time Out NY)
"Rockabilly recast for a new era." (Vintage
Guitar Magazine)

No Wave Video Night
Special Screening!
"I
define No Wave as an (anti-)aesthetic demarcation
and not necessarily an idiomatic onethat
is to say that I think No Wave had (or has) more
to do with a nihilistic, but sometimes totally
sardonic outlook than a certain cliched guitar
sound or drumbeat, as many would have you think.
Simply put, the term could be utilized to define
any negatively charged music destroying or disemboweling
the tradition of Rock music and its platitudes
through intentional noise, abstraction or atavism."
- Weasel Walter
Weasel
Walter, of the Flying Luttenbachers, XBXRX, and
Lake of Dracula infamy, will present a night of
rare No Wave videos from his exclusive collection.
Featuring live performances by The Contortions,
Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, DNA, Suicide, and
other downtown luminaries, this selection offers
a revealing glimpse into the short-lived but highly
influential genre Brian Eno documented on his
seminal compilation No New York.

LEN
XIANG
(formerly UKEMI)
Lead singer, lyricist Tuäc
(pronounced tuck) grew up in the prime of New

Tuäc spent days at home alone with nothing
to occupy his time but his mothers 45-inch
records. The burgeoning Hip Hop Soul singer and

to Project Housing during his teenage years until
his family made the decision to move to Milwaukee.
Tuäc, whose influences include Otis Redding,
Marvin Gaye, Rakim, and Run DMC, continued to
record and perform in showcases during his teens
until he decided to move back to Brooklyn. Tuäc
quickly began impressing fans with his seamless
blend of lyrical skill and vocal talent at his
frequent performances on the open-mic scene in
New York City, where he met musician/song writer
B. Satz.
Originally from Californias Bay area, B.
Satz made a name for himself on the East Coast
Live and Recording scene as a bassist with, Tony
Touch, Doug E. Fresh, Lou Reed, Majisterio, The
Hip-Hop Theater Festival, Pistolera, Beetroot,
La Bruja, Josh Joplin, Yacine Kouyate, and many
other and
established and Independent acts. Together, Tuäc,
B. Satz, and newest member, world DJ, Ayce International
comprise Len Xiang. Their forthcoming album entitled,
De-classified, reflects the groups disinterest
in putting a label on their music. Instead, Len
Xiang focuses on live soul, rap, and instrumentation
in the studio on-stage for eager audiences.
