Ocularis presents
Don't Panic! It's Organic!

Our award-winning film series presents Ithaca-based artist Jason Livingston, formerly of THAW and Cornell Cinema. His films and videos remember place across distance, including Paperless (5 min, video, 2001-2), a silent video about the disappearance of material into the ether, The Two Boys (9 min, video, 1999), which presents a case for the obliteration of nostalgia on the high seas, and the experimental nonfiction film Under Foot & Overstory (35 min, 16mm, 2005), in which The Friends of Hickory Hill Park, an Iowa City-based environmental group, work to produce their organization's mission statement.

The final event of the evening will be the New York premiere of Don’t Panic — It’s Organic! Made by planting strips of celluloid in jars of dirt, twigs, mud and leaves, Don't Panic — It's Organic! interrogates our desire to remain in touch with the physical world. Hippie and health food lifestyles are cross-examined by way of psychedelicized scientific methods, using two slide projectors, three 16mm film projectors, and a tape cassette.

DAMIAN QUINONES Solo Acoustic

DAMIAN QUIÑONES: Father of the 'Underground Sensation,' the oft-described "soulster" has been contributing a completely original NuYorican musical experience of his own design to the cultural collage of NYC, playing in venues such as Mercury Lounge, Pianos, Southpaw, Sin-e, and the Coral Room. Quinones' songwriting is part 60's pop (In the vein of Gainsbourg, Bacharach, Lennon/ McCartney, Davies, and Hayes/Porter), part 70's funk (in the mold of WAR orWillie Bobo) and has elements of electronic music and Reggae as well. His take on 'Urban Folk Music' is funky, expansive and equally at home in a solo acoustic setting as it is blasting full volume with the band. Quinones music is akin to a mix tape made from his Uncles old vinyl collection.

Combining pumping beats, jagged guitars, and an audiophile's love for rare and earthy recordings, Damian is currently recording with co-producer/studio wizard Jason Martin on a follow-up to his debut album New Movements in the Old School (Soluna Records) as well as an album co-produced by guitarist/producer Dan Laureano slated for release in 2005.

BURGER -
a new gay party in Williamsburg!

Gay clubbing in New York City is about to get interesting again. But don't look to Manhattan for inspiration.

Williamsburg has not so quietly become THE hip neighborhood and yes, it's in Brooklyn. Get used to it. Now Brooklyn is about to host one of the flashiest, funkiest parties in all the city.

Burger: more meat to the beat, more fun in those buns. Mind-blowing music (circuit move over, thank you), stunning visuals (not Desperate Housewives on playback, gaah!) performances like you've never seen (since NY's glory days), sexy boys (and girls too!). No boundaries, no boxes. And blessed with being in one of the best, pluckiest venues Williamsburg has to offer, Galapagos Art Space.

EMILE WESTERGAARD + ANDREEA PAUTA

Westergaard’s musical career had an interesting start: If not for an audacious challenge from Emile’s sister that he take to the stage and perform, the blossoming career of this singer/songwriter may have never taken flight. Emile, however, accepted the challenge and a performance at an open-mike night at The Stinger Club, leading to a regular gig at there. Since that frist open-mike night, Westergaard has based his musical operations form his Union Square recording studio and rehearsal space. Now Westergaard is performing at The Cutting Room, The Bitter End, The Living Room, and other top New York clubs.

IndieMusicReview.com: “Emile’s subtle voice weaves through rich tapestries of sound painted with horns, cellos, guitar, upright bass and drums... Emile and company create a world that is at once delicate, beautiful and sacred.”
