Cedar City Falls
written by Liz Tuccillo (author of the best selling book He’s Just Not That Into You: The No Excuses Truth To Understanding Guys) with Sex and the City writers: Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky & Cindy Chupack.
CEDAR CITY FALLS tells the story of a small peaceful town filled with hard-working, God-fearing folk who due to a series of unfortunate incidents and petty squabbles, gets plunged into full-scale civil war. It is a parable (and parody) of conflict escalation, war, activism, peace and redemption.
Each week the show will feature a different celebrity guest narrator including John Slattery and Talia Balsam (MAD MEN), Grant Shaud (MURPHY BROWN) and Jesse L. Martin (LAW AND ORDER, THE PHILANTHROPIST).
**All of the box office proceeds will go to a different human rights charity every week including Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders and the Center for Constitutional Rights.

POLLUTERS and THE NEW ERA OF RECYCLING by Suzanne C Nagy: Opening reception
Installation on view from Nov 5th - Nov 25th (10:00am-6:00pm)
“In the worst environmental disaster since the Chernobyl’ nuclear accident in 1986, more than 100,000 cubic meters of water contaminated with cyanide burst through a dam at a mining works in northern Romania in January 2000. The water traveled 1,000 km (620 mi) through Yugoslavia and Hungary, where it entered the Danube and Tisza rivers, polluting drinking water in all three countries. The toxic cyanide wiped out the Tisza’s entire ecosystem in a matter of days—everything from microbes to otters.”
-Msn Internet Encyclopedia
“Technology that disregards nature has eroded and damaged our natural landscape. My work is an alarm, a wakeup call against global warming”, Suzanne C. Nagy claims with stoic resignation. Like a good realist the artist put factuality first, form follows function…to remind her audience of corporate and consumer neglect. For those artists that are caught up in the restrictive regimes of eastern European communism, perhaps there is no other
way than to take a pragmatic approach to their resistance through aesthetic means. In Nagy’s investigation of the ideological implications of public and private space the artist avoids the didacticism of overly determined and overtly political art.
Nagy’s “Capsules” combine collaged appropriated images from media and embellished over painting and are fossilized in heavily layered epoxy. The images include existing landscapes of industrialized buildings, oil tanks, refineries, electrical plants and power stations…the culprits of our contemporary environmental disaster area. Through her process of layering abstract painting techniques on the images that she selects, we encounter a labyrinthine quality of space and time within the urban landscape that
transports us to a place where there may be no future left for us and our children.
With her particular quality of observation she reveals the extraordinary in the overlooked or commonplace, waking the potential for hope in the most fraught of circumstances.
