FILMARTFUNCTION

FilmArtFunction is a multi-platform arts celebration and benefit for "Under the Bridges," a non-profit documentary-series profiling environmentally-minded artists of NYC. Hosted by comedian Kendra Cunningham, with live performances by DJ Shawn Shwartz, pop-pianist Derrick Wang, magician Matthew Haicken and a silent Fine Art Auction. World famous ice sculptor, Joe O'Donoghue, will create a custom piece for the evening's enjoyment. Raffle prizes include goods from local artists, merchants and visionaries. $30 includes all entertainment, food, free wine, and cash bar.

The New York Photo Festival Presents:
The Future of Contemporary Photography

The exciting new documentary short, The Future of Contemporary Photography, provides a dynamic look into the New York Photo Festival 2008 (NYPH08). The film explores the curatorial insights of four leading photo editors, the festival's founders, and the many cutting-edge artists who shared their work. The film asks curators, artists, and viewers to make their own aesthetic judgements on the state of modern photographic image-making. Reception begins at 6:30 pm, with the screening at 7:30 pm

After a delicious dinner, Great Small Works’ will present scenes from their new Magic Box Show: La Ciudad, featuring music by Michael Winograd & Lee Free, excerpts from Chinese Theatre Works: Whitesnake Under the Bridge, “Plushietown”: a film by Tine Kindermann and the Plushteers, “What is it Then, Between Us?” a story written and read by Jon Papernick.Foxtrots and Hot Jazz, Charlestons and more, by Jon Singer’s furry mascot clad ragtime band, The Xylopholks.
