XOOMBA Launch Benefit XOOMBA, a newly formed initiative to work in some of the world's poorest countries to reverse the negative practices of the garment industry, will host a launch party to benefit the organization's upcoming mission to Africa. XOOMBA's research will focus on bringing fair trade and ecological clothing to the world of fashion via sustainable production techniques. Performers will include Nils Nusens and his Viking Funk band, with special guests Perplex, and the incredible vocalist M (Madwoman). Famoro Dioubate, from Guinea, will also perform on balofon as a special guest for the evening.

The evening will be MC'ed by Ned Sublette with performances by The Notekillers with special guest Shelley Hirsch, Fair Use Trio interprets LIQUID SKY, Glomag featuring CHiKA, Pamela Z, Dialed In: Benton-C Bainbridge and Bobby Previte, and Val-Inc, . PUNCH, New York’s longest-running puppetry slam, is back for another month in the all new Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO. Curated by Gretchen Van Lente of Drama of Works, this month features PUNCH! VIRGINS! Watch as complete newbies to the PUNCH scene try in vain not to completely humiliate themselves in front of the drunken crowds. DRAMA OF WORKS not only curates PUNCH, but usually tries to whip out a piece or two from time to time. This month they will bring out there take on David Ives’ classic one act play “Words, Words, Words” – witness three small monkeys try and write Hamlet all the while plotting revenge on the evil scientists who have locked them up in their cages.
