Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, Novice Theory returns to Galapagos Art Space on September 1st. Novice Theory will be joined by special guests Aria Orion and Leyna Marika Papach.
Aria Orion, a project from composer and performer Jules Gimbrone, weaves mystical tales with experimental arrangements, orchestral dramatics, and soulful melodic phrasing.
Leyna Marika Papach is a composer/video/theater artist from Japan/US. Aside from her own activities, she often collaborates with people in dance and theater. She's written and directed a few of her own musical theater pieces and has played with several bands on the violin (Geraldine Fibbers/Jim Thirwell/Matteah Baim). Her work has been performed in Western/Eastern Europe, West Africa and Japan.
Novice Theory is New York-based multi-instrumentalist Geo Wyeth & his friends. With roots in cabaret performance, experimental folk, and jazz, his "strongly narrative songs and evocative performances" (The New Yorker) have been engaging sold out NYC audiences at Joe's Pub, the Zipper Factory, Ars Nova, Glasslands Gallery, Rockwood Music Hall, and Galapagos.

Join the darling ladies of Sugar Shack Burlesque , Miss RunAround Sue and Legs Malone, when they send summer off with one hell of a dance party - Summer: Neat and with a Twist. Featuring the finest of NYC burlesque including Legs Malone, RunAround Sue, and Aerial Burlesque artist Harvest Moon, ventroliquist Carla Rhodes, the Brooklyn based band Morgan Avenue and other guest artists for a night of good old fashioned ruckus. Special guest DJ McBoing Boing, stellar raffle prizes, and amazing cocktails are only a few more reasons to come. Midnight Magic (members of Hercules & Love Affair and Automato) make their Galapagos debut on Friday, September 4th.
DJ sets by Nomi, spinning into the wee hours.
Midnight Magic is Tiffany Roth, Andrew Raposo, Morgan Wiley, Carter Yasutake, Caito Sanchez, Nick Roseboro, and Max Goldman. Their sound is a mix of psychedelic soul inspired by electro, funk, and disco from all around the world. Midnight Magic’s first 12" is called "Beam Me Up" (out on Permanent Vacation later this year).
