“One of the companies at the center of [the new puppetry renaissance] is DRAMA OF WORKS, a Brooklyn-based collective ..."
– Frank Episale, Performing Arts Journal
New York’s longest-running puppetry slam, is back for another installment at Galapagos! Curated by Gretchen Van Lente of Drama of Works, this month features an equal part PUNCH veteran and PUNCH virgin:
* PATRYK WILINSKI brings out a 2D tabletop piece based on Gombrowicz's "Pornography" This is Patryk’s third time performing at PUNCH.
* SUSAN BEAUREGARD has a Muppet Whatnot alter-ego named Glitter. She enjoys performing, dogs and dry martinis. And she’s in love with a guinea pig named Tyrone. This will be both Susan and Glitter’s first time at PUNCH.
* HOWIE LEIFER whips out his lovely Charlie Chaplin puppet in a piece called “The Little Tramp.” This will be Howie’s five-thousandth time at PUNCH.
* ANDREW BENINCASA has been putting on shadow shows in his house in Brooklyn for a few months now to the joy of his friends. He’ll finally come outta the house and rock us! This is Andrew’s first time at PUNCH.
* NATE BEGLE is stopping by with a few Muppet Whatnots of his own. One is a lounge singer with a huge ego and one is a self-deprecating senior citizen. They’re both always a hoot! This is Nate’s second time at PUNCH.
* KIMBERLY MIKENIS comes all the way from New Haven to mesmerize us with a unique and tiny shadow box! This is Kimberly’s first time at PUNCH.
* and a special presentation by DRAMA OF WORKS

The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival Photo Exhibit and Fundraiser
BUY TICKETS HERE!
Celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival at the first ever Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival Photo Exhibit, a retrospective look at powerful images of Hip-Hop fans, performers, volunteers and festival goers. These photos illustrate the passion, enthusiasm and commitment that the people have in hip hip itself.
As the largest Hip-Hop event located in the five boroughs and tens of thousands of fans have experienced the vibe that the Festival creates. It is a truly grass roots event, that is staffed entirely by volunteers and supported largely by donations.
The exhibit is curated by veteran photographer Frank Franklin II, featuring stunning work by him as well as festival photographers, James Blagden and Robert Mayer.
DJ Qool Marv will be spinning neo-soul, aftobeat, hip-hop and breaks for the afterparty.
