Smut presents
Dr. Lucky's Burlesque School

Featuring Lucky, the Great Fire of Chicago
and a dozen talented students from New York University's Undergraduate Drama Department
Curated by Dr. Lynn Sally

Burlesque has recently become canonized as a legitimate source of intellectual inquiry -- this kind of inquiry is exactly what students from New York University's Undergraduate Drama Department class "The History of American Burlesque" are doing. Come see what you knew all along: burlesque is savvy, sexy, and smart. University students will perform original and historically-based songs, dances, and skits in the burlesque spirit of parody, gender inversion, and
the deconstruction of the split between highbrow and lowbrow culture. The evening with be hosted by Lucky, a burlesque legend of stage and screen.

RELEASE THE BE$T
with This Radiant Boy

The Best has been churning out its turbulent, agitating music for years now. They've been cycling it through their shows and letting it noisily build up pressure against their gates. Now, they've recorded and they can't hold it back any longer. All that anarchic angst, lyric melody, sick beats and raw rock is about to gush out into the faces of the smiling audience. It's time for the money shot so come out and celebrate the CD release of "THE BE$T."

"The Best" is an episodic rock theatre epic involving live music, live dance, digital life, and intentions.

Songs from a Random House + Bedsit Poets

Songs from a Random House is surely New York's leading electric ukulele/chord organ/viola/upright bass/drums/& voice combo, with a new CD out on Bar/None. The New Yorker described SoFARH as a "surreal-pop group. It has mournful violas and a tight rhythm section, as well as a new record, 'gListen,' that's full of dreamy lyrics, intricate uke picking, and occasional drones."

Bedit Poets is comprised of Amanda Thorpe, edward rogers, and Mac Randall. Their music is stamped by the beautiful and warm harmonies of edward and Amanda, well-known stalwarts of the Losers' Lounge crew. Imagine Fairport Convention crossed with Belle and Sebastian, with a touch of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. Haunting, tuneful, and lyrically off-kilter... "The reason you ought to hear them is the vocal interplay between front-types Amanda Thorpe and Edward Rogers." (Time Out New York)
