Beginning this March, we're proud to co-present Open Variety Nights with Bindlestiff Family Variety Arts. First Mondays are NYC's best variety artists presenting some of the best work NYC has to offer.

GamelaTron
The world's first and only fully robotic Gamelan Orchestra

Modeled after traditional Balinese and Javanese gamelan orchestras, the GamelaTron is an amalgamation of traditional instruments with a suite of percussive sound makers. MIDI sequences control robotic striking mechanisms that produce intricately woven and rhythmic sound. Performances follow an arc similar to classic Indonesian gatherings, where stories from great epics, such as the Ramayana, are told and settings given in words that are continued in music. The GamelaTron is the fruit of a collaboration between the League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots (LEMUR) and the composer Zemi17 (A. Taylor Kuffner).

This month Slutty Puppets brings you The Anatomy of Pleasure by Claudia Acosta and company!
 
ALSO the stormy puppets of Richard WHIPPER, the dazzling tricks of host Kate Brehm, the snippy nunnery of Audrey Crabtree, and maybe even some post-retirement GET DOWN!
 
Slutty Puppets is sloshy, squishy, rag-tag, and DIRTY. Filled with puppets, presents, and clowns, Slutty Puppets is an evening of wacko performance acts. Very short and very sweet! Between 8-10 puppet variety acts, under 10 minutes each, grab the stage, work the stage, and love the stage in very special ways that only puppets and their friends can. This time, its personal.
