BROOKLYN
COMMITTEE is proud to present
Brooklyn
V-Day 2005
A Production of Eve Ensler's THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES
JOIN
US AS WE CELEBRATE WOMEN, RAISE AWARENESS AND ENVISION
A WORLD WITHOUT VIOLENCE.
"A compelling rhapsody of the female essence. . . . Ultimately
Ensler achieves something extraordinary."
- Chicago Tribune
"By the end of the show, the audience has moved from slightly
embarrassed to highly engaged, sometimes enraged, and
ultimately enlarged. They leave understanding that a woman
is more that the sum of her parts, but if some of her
parts are unmentionable, she is diminished" - O Magazine
"Spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving . .
. it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural
history, a poem and a polemic, a performance and a balm
and a benediction." -Variety
V-DAY
IS A GLOBAL MOVEMENT TO STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND
GIRLS. FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT V-DAY CAN BE FOUND AT:

Bigbooté
has existed as a modernist music force for over 10 years,
arising from the cultural tarpit of Cortland, NY. Punk
rock based on hearsay, a belief in NEW rockenroll, and
a conviction that comes out in literal sweat, blood and
tears. High-energy garage annihilation from coulda-been
dead-end small-towners, relocated to the epicenter of
enemy territory: hipster central: Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
No white belts, no Strokes haircuts, no faux-hawks. Just
broken jaws, broken guitar strings, and broken hearts.
Bigbooté! Get up and dance or get outta the way!

"Offers up 'urban bluegrass'
which marries bluegrass with knowing local lyrics and
sounds that shout out to rock and even ambient/jazz
- not shocking for a band with a fiddle player from
the Flux quartet. Yet they still play 'Orange Blossom
Special' with no-joke, straight-on pickin' abandon."
