Jan Bell, Hilary Hawke, Mamie Mink,
Phillippa Thompson, and Dina Regine

Jan Bell's (top picture) earthy, genuine latest album, Songs for Love Drunk Sinners, won the 2008 Alt-Country Album of the Year (People's Choice) at the Independent Music Awards. Jan Bell's simple melodies leave a trail of enchantment wherever she goes, and she has toured with such notables as Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Jolie Holland, The Be Good Tanyas, Ray Charles & His Orchestra, and the M Shanghai Stringband. People always ask, "How come an English girl is singing so many American folk songs?" Jan reckons the root of many of the songs she loves are back in the coal-mining countryside where she was born and raised. Listen here. http://www.myspace.com/janbell

Hilary Hawke was raised in upstate NY and has been a musician from an early age, and an active music lover her whole life! Her songwriting is inspired by those around her, and the music she hears day to day from friends and other musicians. Her spirit and energy come through in her clarinet, guitar and banjo playing that have drawn people to see her play in coffee shops and local venues in the Adirondack mtns., to bigger and higher profiles gigs when she moved to NYC in 2004. Hilary has received many accolades for teaching music to children in inner city and private schools and for her banjo instruction.  An often sought after musician in the world of folk, americana, country, honky-tonk, rock, etc... Hilary has been described as, "completely in touch with her soul, and adds a wonderful quality to any song she sings or plays,-a true bright spirit!" http://www.myspace.com/hilaryhawke

Mamie Minch (middle piture) sounds something like a (well) fleshed out 78 record. http://www.myspace.com/mamieminch

Dina Regine. Native New Yorker, hat obsessed, shutterbuggin pizza lovin guitar junkie, Dina Regine enjoys splitting her time between all her creative ventures.  Over the years, she has made a name for herself as both a musician and as a club/event DJ.  Regine has been fortunate enough to share the bill with some of the most amazing artists of our time, and thrilled that she's been able to make a living at what she loves to do. Very thrilled. Performing Songwriter Magazine has called Dina Regine's style, 'roots music with a modern twist'. That pretty much sums up the feel you get when listening to the bluesy vocal delivery, and guitar style she as made her own.  After two band projects (Naked Grape and Swamp Honey), and a publishing deal with Sony Music in the 90's, she has since decided to go the solo route.  A route she has found herself quite content with. She has released two homespun CD's, 'Be As It Will'  (1999) and 'Blame It On The Moon' (2005), as well as a holiday single this past year called 'Forever Christmas Eve.  Her latest chapter is still in the works. http://www.myspace.com/dinaregine

Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Philippa Thompson (bottom picture) studied classical strings growing up in California, but before long she became an improviser and a lover of folk music also. Now she lives in Brooklyn and plays violin, viola, guitar, ukulele, musical saw, spoons, washboard and sings. On-going projects include the M Shanghai String Band, Gloria Deluxe, and the Ukuladies. She’s also appeared on stage and on recording with Belle and Sebastian, Beth Orton, Anti-Social Music, and award-winning theater company Accinosco. In addition to performing, Philippa manages the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA. http://www.myspace.com/mshanghaistringband

The Bike Trip by Martin Dockery
A comedic monologue about peddling chemical truths

It was the height of WWII, in the very heart of Europe, when a Swiss pharmacologist found himself struggling through a most bizarre bicycle ride – one that would introduce the world to LSD and alter the way millions of people perceive the nature of consciousness. 65 years later, the search for connection brings Dockery through the psychedelic scenes of Haight Ashbury in San Francisco, the ancient Buddhist ruins of the first capital of Thailand, and the neo-hippy rave culture of Goa, India, before finally arriving in Basel, Switzerland, where he intends to tap into that very first acid trip by, amongst other things, renting a bike.

MARTIN DOCKERY is a frequent performer in New York’s storytelling scene, appearing on the stages of The Moth, Speakeasy, The Liar Show, and many others. In the coming months, he’ll be debuting a new theatrical monologue, The Surprise, at the Frigid Festival in New York in February. His stories have made him a seven-time finalist in The Moth’s bi-annual Grandslam Storytelling Championship. He was a co-creator of the play C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, which ran on Broadway as The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
