The project Spot has been created by two groups of artists working on several projects in France and Quebec. The main action is about combining sound with visual work, films, projections or objects.
From the Spot family comes the Rossignol-Lafrance duo, both working with turntables and electronic sounds. Their rhythms encapsulate ideas about happiness, doubt, depression and hope. The use of rhythm illustrates a state of mind and underlines cultural facts. In opposition, the abstract layering of electronic sounds recall the basis of experimental music. The duo also put for the first time elements of Quebec folk culture helped with field recording and a humor-spoken words vinyl collection. This proposition of sensitive post-modern music will illustrate a new film by l'oeil de verre.
In 2006-2007, Rossignol-Lafrance builted up an introduction to sound art and experimental music workshop for teenagers in highshools. Working with shools and art centers in Montreal, they made possible a serie of class were music student could amplifie sounds, break and spin records.
