Thursday 11/8 7:30pm front room $6 suggested donation Brooklyn Playwrights Collective Presents Beyond Brecht features the Brooklyn Playwrights Collective whose last production was described by NYTheatre.com as a "smart, sharp, and compelling evening of theatre…" and the world premiere of 10 new one-acts with a humorous/political twist, all inspired by Bertolt Brecht. Some of this year's one-acts include: “Ms. Un-America Pageant,” by Maria Micheles, “Fulana,” by Felipe Ossa, “Sauté Your Face” & “Thank You for Applying,” by Jerry Polner, “Notes Towards a Dialectic,” by Les Hunter, “The Resistable Rise of Fatlinda Paloka,” by Marcy Wallabout, “Ice Pole,” by Chris Force, “Le Pithecanthrope,” by Ed Malin, and “Pedagogy,” by Will Cordeiro Performing artists include: Richard West, Lissa Moira, Peter Dizozza, Joe Bendik, Johnathan Zalben, Jason Ellis, Margot Lee Sherman, Lauren O'Brien, and Amelia June. The Brooklyn Playwrights Collective is a workshop and theatre group of emerging playwrights from Brooklyn and Queens. They workshop bi-weekly in and around the Park Slope area. What unites this diverse group is their urge to create an alternative to traditional “theater-centric” events by incorporating other types of experimental performance and musical shows onto the stage.
