The Secret History was formed in 2007 by ex MY FAVORITE singer/songwriter Michael Grace Jr., and his decade long collaborators; guitarist Darren Amadio, bassist Gil Abad, drummer Tod Karasik, and keyboardist Kurt Brondo. My Favorite were a band occasionally deeply loved by the kids and their own heroes alike. The roots of The Secret History grew out of the ashes of that previous project, as did the loosely thematic group of songs Grace wrote revolving around a fictional rock group called The Haunted Hearts, which may or may not be composed entirely of ghosts. The Secret History crystallized when Grace met Lisa Ronson. She had answered an ad in The Village Voice seeking a 'Female Voice/Tragic Cult Figure.' Her dad was a Spider from Mars, and that was tragic enough, but it was the voice...and everything  just under the surface of it...that convinced them. Together they are creating a kind of continental art rock, drawing from the jangles of rainy Manchester, the stomp of glam, the innocence of the girl groups, and the anxiety of disco. They have been playing riotous shows in the vivid shadows of Brooklyn and Manhattan whilst finishing up a debut recording for Spring release.
