AeroCCCP Recordings & The Wrecking Ball present... Messer Chups (St. Petersburg, Russia/Ipecac/AeroCCCP/Solnze) Horror romantics, vampiresque twist, sci-fi western with zombies and cowboys surfing from song to song on coffin lids. Sinister optimism -A comic book for music enthusiasts - this perfectly describes this evening. Messer Chups is a duo from St. Petersburg, Russia consists of Oleg Gitarkin and his loyal assistant Zombie Girl. Since the critically acclaimed ìCrazy Priceî in 2005 on Mike Pattonís Ipecac, Messer Chups slowly developed a cult following around the world as one of the most unique and genre-defiant bands. While early recordings were comprised primarily of sample collages, Messer Chups gradually began exploring the territory of live music. Combining samples with live organs, analog synthesizers, guitars, and recording several albums with Theremin virtuoso Lydia Kavina, the grand-niece of Leon Theremin. With the release of ìHyena Safariî, on AeroCCCP in 2007 in the U.S., Messer Chups took on a primarily live persona, with Oleg Gitarkin on guitars and Zombie Girl on bass, largely influenced by the pioneers of Surf (The Ventures, Dick Dale, Trashmen), big-band lounge (Henry Mancini, Les Baxter, Martin Denny) and rock ní roll of the 60ís. "one of the most unique, unsettling voices in today's music world." - URB
"A really odd surf-rock band with a dark sense of humor." - Decibel End may or may not be the illegitimate love-child of one Charles Pierce. He's not talking. End sounds like one of these new-fangled electronic bands. Like Justice or somebody. Being mugged. In a back alley. By a surf-rock band. End live shows are weird. They've featured everything from pinatas to jazz ensembles to fist-fights to dancing Furries. Seriously. There's no telling what might happen. End has toured with Fantomas, Melt Banana, Jason Forrest, Kid 606, Snog and The Locust. Played everywhere from The Stone to the Knitting Factory to Irving Plaza to the Fillmore to dingy European squats to Russian boxing rings. Done remixes for Foetus, Snog, Kaada, The Icarus Line and more. Put out records on Ipecac, Tigerbeat6 and Hymen and a bunch of other places all over the world. Did we name drop enough there? Did we mention Mike Patton? In large 24-point font? We should have. "If this record is the "Sound(s) of Disaster", then I've been missing out by playing it safe. ...may just drive you to steer your car off the nearest cliff at high speed while grinning (from) ear-to-ear." - Dusted "Outrageous, epic, nihilistic, and absurd... the soundtrack to a world of b-movie fantasies where hydrogen bombs, hippie death cults, subway-dwelling zombies, cannibal midgets, and legions of homicidal madmen all run rampant." - BoomKat

Friday 3/7, 11pm $10 SPECTRAL RESIDENCY Through a leaking bodily cavity resembling the pork found in Chinese restaurants, Satan shat out a crystal beaming with glowing red embers. This crystal matured into the fetus of Seth Troxler. Seth was placed on earth as a weeping fetus, the sound of inevitability. As he grew, his ancestral roots took on a magnetic channeling power, more than his feeble mind could ever consciously fathom. As a result, he became capable of creating some of the world's finest and most intuitive dance cuts, including releases on FXHE, Esperanza and his hits "Satisfy" and "Love Berzereker" on Beretta Grey, and upcoming releases on Dumb Unit and Spectral in early 2007. Through a preternatural understanding of rave, Seth conjours up mixes like Botticelli conjoured his Venus. He has played many outstanding international gigs, notably Panorama Bar, Watergate, Robert Johnson, Batofar and Wolf + Lamb. He is also a key conceptual force behind America's "Tesh Club" parties with partners in crime Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss. His musical influences include the chirping of crickets, the whirring of space ships, and the sweet sounds of whistling voodoo magic. However, Seth draws the majority of his inspiration from Robert Downey Jr., and the idea of releasing the shackles that bind Downey so he can finally do heroin in peace. On cold Detroit evenings one can often witness Seth Troxler in his front yard, situated beside an overly-cumbersome boombox in a nylon tracksuit, jacking his body to old Dancemania cuts and cooking bbq. To view first hand such a rare delight is truly magic. Chicago-based Kate Simko is a University-trained classical pianist turned left field house and techno producer. Releasing music on labels such as Traum, Kupei Musika and Spectral Sound, Kate draws from a wide range of influences, combining her sense of melody and structure with her background in Chicago house and Detroit techno. Whether playing live or DJ'ing, Kate’s musical selection maintains a warm, soulful character, full of funky bass lines and loose rhythms. Kate’s music has received critical acclaim in publications such as The Wire, XLR8R, de:Bug, Mixmag, URB, BPM and Remix and her Detalles project was named one of the 'Next 100' artists by URB magazine. A versatile DJ, Kate was named one of the Top 10 DJ's in Chicago by XLR8R magazine. Gaining attention from labels and DJ's around the world, Kate has performed at festivals such as Mutek (Montreal and Chile), the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Worldtronics (Berlin), and has played beside a myriad of genre defining artists throughout the United States, Europe and South America. Growing up studying piano and music theory, Kate discovered underground dance music during her teens and began DJ’ing at college station WNUR in 1998. Shortly after, she became dance music director of the station, where she learned the history of the music and was able to keep pace with current releases. At this time, Kate made a switch from a degree in classical piano to electronic music composition. In 2001, Kate moved to Santiago, Chile, where she continued her studies in music composition and met Andres Bucci. Bucci and Simko combined forces and have since recorded two full-length records together as Detalles (Traum , Kupei Musika). Back in her hometown of Chicago, Kate is honing her talents, producing and performing full time. Kate is continually evolving as an artist, combining her wide range of influences into her own music, creating a unique personal sound that crosses genre borders, blending rich textures, melodies and intricate programming with funky bass and groove.
