The Seeds
Children pay for the sins of their parents in this internationally acclaimed film by Wojciech Kasperski, student at Poland’s world-renowned Lodz Film School. A hauntingly intimate documentary portrait of a Siberian village family further isolated by their own community and by their inability to communicate with each other about a past trauma. With music of Philip Glass, this 27-minute film has won among many other honors the distinguished 2006 SILVERDOCS Award for Best Short Film. “If Chekhov and Rembrandt had collaborated on a documentary film, it might have the visual richness and dramatic insight of SEEDS" (Big Sky Festival jury).
Kasperski’s presence for Q&A made possible by the Polish Cultural Institute. (His latest film THE REFUGE CITY, a dramatic short on machismo and soccer riots, will be shown 5 times at the Tribeca Film Festival.)

Fire Flies
There are four of us. We make music together. Sometimes our songs are about machines and robots. Sometimes they are about outer space. Sometimes they are about getting lost in other dimensions. And then sometimes they are about people who aren't sure what they're doing in this one. We know an alien when we see one. We are a band called Fire Flies.

authentic music and dance styles of Egypt and the Arab world,
celebrates the release of their premiere CD, "Zikrayat: Live at
Lotus," on Friday, May 4th. Zikrayat's unique repertory ranges from
that of forgotten gems of Egyptian and Lebanese Cinema, to various
genres of traditional music, and original compositions juxtaposing
classical, folkloric, and dance pieces, highlighting the diversity and
variety of these art forms.
"This cd is really enjoyable...it flows well, the music is beautiful
and the selection of pieces is good. Congratulations!"
—Bozenka, Bellydance Superstars
"I love the cd! So classy and elegant—I'm inspired by this tribute to
a timeless era. It reminds me of champagne at a warm Sunday brunch."

Rahu-Ketu
Rahu-Ketu's music is a clever jungle mongrel, an animal hybrid balancing cerebral composition against satisfying melody and rhythm.
"A suggestive exploration of sound, tone and rhythm. Closer to the legendary NYC experimental music scene than to the everchanging rock one, their sound is as complex as it is dreamy. Highly recommended for those into the sound of post-rock."
