Darmstadt: "Classics of the Avant Garde" is excited to announce a
performance of Morton Feldman's beautiful masterpiece of vocal
harmonic texure,Three Voices by the renowned new music soprano, Daisy
Press. The piece is a setting of Frank O'Hara's poem "wind" and is the
culmination of recording project that Ms. Press has been developing
for over a year and is her first live performance. This concert is
presented in collaboration with Red Light New Music, a New York-based
contemporary music series dedicated to the presentation of new
American and European classical music.


Daisy Press, soprano, received her Bachelor's Degree from the
Manhattan School of Music, where she specialized in contemporary
music. While at MSM, she performed as a soloist in works by
Schoenberg, Webern, Crumb, Scelsi, Tavener, Saariaho, Ives, Bresnick,
Stravinsky, Cage, and numerous works by Steve Reich. For the last two
years, she has been the singer-in-residence at the Bang on a Can
Summer Institute at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Ms.
Press has also performed Reich's "Drumming" with So Percussion and was
a guest artist at Juilliard in their performance of the same work with
choreography by Eliot Feld. In the spring Ms. Press will be on the
faculty at the Manhattan School of Music, teaching a course about
American vocal repertoire. She currently studies voice with Trish
McCaffrey and North Indian classical singing with Michael Harrison.

that takes both modern and traditional jazz elements
and devices and wraps them all up in highly energetic
and interactive group improvisation. The group is
recording its debut CD in March and hopes to have it
available in the fall.

A special performance by Matthew Lutz-Kinoy and Andres Laracuente will open forthe Proboner Show on March 1, 2007 with J.J. and Cecel: Melt in the Sun Freeze Underground.
The Proboner Show is a vaudevillian musical comedy about two frustrated penises that
can’t seem to get enough satisfaction in their life. They confide in eachother’s
misogynist stories until a strange female visitor arrives.
This shadow-puppetry act is the latest production from the experimental puppetry
collaborative IMAGINATIONEXPLOSION. Emerging from a fine arts background, the
group creates shows that have addressed sex-positive feminism, existentialism, art theory,
beastiality, and stand-up comedy. They have been working in New York City for 2
years, performing for such venues as Theater for the New City, Zebulon Bar, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

Galapagos resident artist Sarah Johansson Locke presents HYBRID, a performance series featuring artists who explore new forms and fusions from ancient and contemporary sources. Dancers, musicians, spoken word and circus artists, they sample ethnic and electronic elements -- from India to the Balkans, North Africa to Brooklyn -- remixing them into a moving collage across cultures.
